Titanium

October 15, 2019

“Titanium” is a well-balanced grey. Neither too warm or too cool. It’s a new color I created from a sample Spokane painter Mike Richter sent me. I liked it so much, I added it to my new color palette. Since it’s new, I only have photos from one project where I specified it for siding on a bungalow in the Garden District of Baton Rouge. However, designers Brian Rowe and Caroline Alberstadt recently used it on a project so I’m hoping for some photos of it soon!

“Titanium” siding with “Moss Green” shutters, “Rainbow Fog” trim, “Haint Blue” porch ceiling. Porch deck and steps are a lightened “Kennon Ivy”
A close-up of “Titanium” siding, “Haint Blue” ceiling, “Rainbow Fog” trim, “Moss Green” shutters, lightened “Kennon Ivy” porch floor and “Sacre Bleu” screen door. We used PPG Paints’ new Break-Through Interior/Exterior Gloss on both door and porch floor. It’s as durable as an alkyd and dries in 20 minutes.

Dove

October 14, 2019

As mentioned in my previous blog post on the color “Smoke”, “Dove” is a darker version of the same color. To be precise, “Dove” is 75% of the “Driftwood” formula and “Smoke” is 50% of the “Driftwood” formula. We often create lighter versions of a color and can even do that with samples.

“Dove” walls in this apartment shows its brown leanings. That’s the thing about full spectrum paints. They are very color reflective so they look different in different settings, constantly changing with the light.

Smoke

October 11, 2019

“Smoke” is a medium warm grey that works especially well with it’s darker version “Dove”. Both of these are lighter versions of my retired color “Driftwood”. The original darker version was named Driftwood because it’s a gray that has some brown in it, making it a great complement to wood tones.

This kitchen den area had gold walls which didn’t help with the temps from the hot afternoon sun that streams through the windows. Picking up on the recycled ceiling and grout from the tiles (something I normally never consider!), we repainted both walls and ceiling “Smoke”
Another view of the same room with “Smoke” walls and ceiling. We kept the same bone trim which works well with it.
A work in progress, this soon to be kitchen has “Smoke” walls and ceiling with “Edgewood Green” trim.

Putty

October 10, 2019

“Putty” is one of my oldest colors. I created it to frame a window that looked out over the trunk of a huge live oak. The bark that color in it. It’s a warm grey that’s both a beautiful wall color as well as a versatile trim color.

“Putty” on walls, ceiling and trim work well with the wood tones in this kitchen because it’s a warm grey that can sometimes have a green cast.
“Putty” walls with “Sage” trim. Although you can’t see it in this photo, we used “Gustavian Grey” on the ceilings.

Pumice

October 2, 2019

“Pumice” is one of my favorite complex neutrals. It’s a warm grey that is so misty, it makes you want to touch the walls because they don’t look solid. When I say warm, I mean although it’s a grey, it’s not cold and in some settings it can lean on the green side.

Grey at its highest silvery hue is the ray of peace. In interiors, it creates a timeless, contemplative and relaxing mood. It’s considered a color of compromise and harmony. I highly recommend it as the main neutral in open floor plans.

The warmth in “Pumice” make it a wonderful complement to the warm cypress wood tones used in this newly constructed sun room.
“Pumice” walls and ceiling with “Barry’s White” trim used in this guestroom create an oasis of calm to balance the vibrant bedding.
We used “Pumice” on both walls and ceiling since there was no crown molding and it visually raises the ceiling height when you paint both the same color. The trim is “Putty”

If you’d like to see a sample of Pumice or any of my full spectrum paint colors, visit my Online Store where you can order free hand-painted samples of any of my colors. Although Pumice is grey, it contains no grey or black pigment and is created with 7 pigments just like all my other colors.
