The Best of Intentions for 2012

January 3, 2012

Every New Year, instead of making “resolutions”, I sit with a pen and blank journal and focus on what “intentions” I have for the upcoming year. I keep them in a journal so that I can go back at the end of each year to see what I have accomplished and sometimes I discover that what I thought was so important the year before, no longer is. 2012 in numerology is a “five”, which means it is a year of change and considering it is the last year on the Mayan Calendar, I’m sure it will be filled with lots of excitement and changes. The musical group “The Fifth Dimension” was certainly ahead of their time with their “Age of Aquarius” song, so let’s open our hearts and let the sunshine in!

I am a big fan of scientist-spiritual philosopher Gregg Braden and especially love his videos on YouTube. According to Gregg (and the numerous other authors I have read on my 20+ year spiritual path), we have already transcended many of the darkest prophesies predicted and 2012 is a doorway of opportunity to embrace these changes by living life fully and consciously with intent and integrity, in kindness to one another, asking ourselves on a daily basis “what can I do to make this a better world”? Gregg’s very interesting YouTube video gives more detail of what he predicts for 2012:  2012 Gregg Braden on Mayan Calendar

One of the things I am looking forward to participating in this year are Color Cares™ paint makeovers. Color Cares™ is a new non-profit organization dedicated to changing lives with color. Founded by Dan Wittenkeller ( and, Color Cares’ mission is to uplift and heal the suffering through a Color Cares makeover. Everyone has the right to a positive outlook on life but sometimes unforeseen circumstances such as terminal illness, loss of a loved one or other tragedy, make this especially difficult. Research has proven that using color in our surroundings can uplift the spirit, so if you are interested, you can help, too! If you are a color consultant, interior designer, redesigner, decorator, home stager or paint contractor, you can join the volunteer network.  And/or, you can nominate a deserving person or family for a color makeover. If you are an individual, corporation or organization, you can make a tax-deductible contribution. In lieu of a monetary contribution, Color Cares also graciously accepts new paint supplies (Zero VOC or Low VOC Paint, Paint Sundries (Brushes, Rollers, Tarps, Tape, etc. and Color Fan Decks). 11:11 and 11-11-11

November 8, 2011

For as long as I can remember, when I look at a digital clock, it often says “11:11”. It wasn’t until I started reading the Kryon books back in 1990 recommended by my friend Sidney Coffee (more about her later), that I discovered this is supposed to be a “cosmic wink”–a reminder by the angelic beings that surround us, that we are divinely connected and to shift our thoughts from negativity to something positive we’d like to manifest.

Since then, I have been on a spiritual quest, drawn to channelers of angelic beings like Kryon, shamans and sound healers like Tom Kenyon and Robert Coxon, Doreen Virtue, whose numerous books on angels and nature spirits have thoroughly intrigued me, and especially to metaphysical books on color (like Meredith Young-Sowers’ Agartha).  It seems I have read very little “fiction” over the past 20+ years.  Of course, some might call what I do read “fiction”, since these books are about the “unseen”. Not surprising that I have been so drawn to color, since the color we see when we look at something is in fact not its real color. Every object absorbs all the colors that it really is, and reflects the color it is not, and that’s the color you see!

Back to 11:11. Seeing 11:11 on clocks has been happening more frequently (almost daily!) and just the other night, I was awakened by my iPhone which was charging across the room. I jumped up thinking it might be my daughter texting me and when I looked at the phone, there were no texts, no alerts, nada–just the time: 11:11!

With the approaching date this Friday of 11-11-11, I’ve been getting all kinds of newsletters about what a powerful day of manifestation this will be. According to Gillian MacBeth-Louthan of, “11:11:11 is a number activation sequence. Each time that you see this number on a digital clock it represents that you are being given an opportunity to walk into a Gateway of Instantaneous Manifestation. The universe has just taken a snapshot of your thoughts, which then are manifesting into the physical in record speed. The time period from November 11 to January 11 is considered to be the HOLY TRINITY months. All in All it is a divine decree and opportunity issued to all of earth. Wake-up, and become your true light.”

There are many celebrations and meditations taking place all over the world this day. I know I plan to light candles and focus on all things positive. My friend Sidney Coffee, who I mentioned previously, has invited me to her Zen House (see previous blog post and newsletter) this Friday which will be open to the public Sunday evening, in conjunction with LSU’s Hilltop Arboretum Fall Garden Tour in Baton Rouge. An article, “Zen Retreat” came out today with more information and photos.  If you are in the area, I hope you’ll come by on Sunday. I’ll certainly be there!

Sidney & Al Coffee's Zen House is the highlight of "Moon Shine: A Walk on the Night Side"

Surprisingly, for the first time, I Googled “11:11” and found a wealth of information. Here are some I found interesting:

The Magic of Purple Plates?!

February 2, 2010

I have been enjoying Michelle Karen’s new book, Astrology for Enlightenment, that I mentioned in my previous post on New Year’s Eve 2009 “NYE Alert! Lunar Eclipse of Mythical Proportions“. It contains a wealth of information and tools for thriving during these turbulent times. Being such a color lover, I immediately zeroed in on her suggested use of Purple Energy Plates (

These plates are said to emit positive energy and affect certain objects placed on them.

There are countless uses for the plates from placing drinking water on them that then gives you more energy, to placing food on them that the plate clears of negative residues such as pesticides! Dr. Joshua David Stone, author of “Beyond Ascension” refers to these Nikola Tesla-inspired wonders as “one of the most extraordinary tools to raise my energy”. Astrologist Linda Goodman also wrote about them in her book, “Star Signs” back in 1968! I read Goodman’s book back in the early seventies and sure don’t remember anything about purple plates, but after looking up the website and reading the article “The Magic of Tesla’s Purple Energy Plates“, I am ready to give it a try! I’ll keep you posted!

Here’s a copy and paste of uses listed in the article (which I found very interesting!):

There are many uses for the purple plates. Here are only a few suggestions.

1. Place a small sized plate in a pocket or purse for more energy. (No body contact is necessary.

2. Place large plate in refrigerator (center shelf is best.) Food, with the exception of fresh meat and fish, will stay fresh longer.

3. Place beneath sick house plants, or water sick plants with water which has been placed on plate overnight.

4. Place small plate in dog or cat bed, or under food dish.

5. To energize crystals, place on purple plate for 12 hours.

6. Use the plate on injured area of any living thing.

7. Travellers can carry a small plate to energize their drinking water and eliminate\ illness and stomach upsets.

8. Small plate placed on forehead to alleviate headache pain, on joints to alleviate gout and arthritis pain, on stomach to stop nausea.

9. Placed on forehead in the morning will help you to remember your dreams. Also place on forehead to promote deeper meditation.

There are also testimonials from plate users who claim they help with cramps, headaches, stomach upsets, stiff joints, torticollis, swelling, ringworm, “clicking” jaw, alcoholism, anxiety, colic and depression.

P.S.  I just want to add that after sleeping with the small purple plate under my pillow for many nights, I am happy to report that for the first time in years, I have been sleeping entirely through the night!  I have also since discovered another source online with the excerpt from Linda Goodman’s book on purple plates:

The Power of Gratitude!

January 21, 2010

Back on September 1st, I wrote about Tom Kenyon in my post  “The Powerful Heart“.  I included links to two channels about what he calls “chaotic nodes” and how they will result in energy changes that include “severe fluctuations in weather patterns affecting the availability of food and water, earth changes including volcanic and earthquake activity, financial instability, and political ineptitude in managing world events”.  Well, I recently received his most recent channel “Haiti and the Chaotic Node” where Tom reminds us that we will be experiencing even more volatility in weather patterns, as well as an increase in unpredictable earth changes and that the simple act of appreciation for what is in our lives will shift our vibratory field faster and more effectively than anything else.  He also offers (at no charge!) a very effective sound tool to help assist us during these upcoming turbulent events. It can be downloaded from his website: Dimensional Attunement for the Pineal Gland.  I was able to download it onto my iTunes so that I can play it on my iPod. It’s very soothing!

Now, I know this sounds like a lot of “woo woo” stuff to most people, but I have to tell you from personal experience, what we focus on, we really do create. I have been keeping a gratitude journal for years now and have no doubt that this is the reason I continue to live a life I love!  I also highly recommend his “Ecstasy of the Heart”  technique which is quite powerful. Intrigued? For more about Tom Kenyon, visit his website, The channelled information can be found in the “Hathors” section.

NYE Alert! Lunar Eclipse of Mythical Proportions!

December 31, 2009

I am a big fan of psychic astrologer Michelle Karen and have had several very accurate readings with her, am on her newsletter mailing list, and just had to post this interesting info on some special cosmic alignments happening this New Year’s Eve! Here’s a flat out “copy & paste” from Michelle with some great advice as to how to capitalize on this special energy:

“2009 is ending with cosmic fireworks. We are blessed with a Lunar Eclipse of mythical proportions.

Anything said, felt, wished for, thought about today, is hugely amplified. A most powerful portal is being opened enabling us to create a whole new reality. Let our feelings be of love, our thoughts be of peace and our joy overflow, as everything we are experiencing today on an inner and outer level is redirecting our course for many months to come.

A deep love relationship is being cemented today. We are realistic about our link and are reaching a powerful balance of the masculine and the feminine inside and outside.  We can face the future reassured that we are destined to journey together. For those of you who have not yet found their true spirit partner, this is the day to know deep in your heart that this being is already in your life on an inner plane. Your certainty will create the vibration to attract him/her on a physical level.

We are also finding today our true roots: where do we feel the happiest? Where is our true home? Where do we feel safe and nurtured? Where does our soul soar?

We need to find our joy, reconnect with the creativity we had as a child, playfully follow our bliss and believe in our uniqueness. The more we use our own special talents, the more glorious our path will become. Our vocation needs to be, or become, a labor of love. How do we contribute to society in alignment with our body, our mind, our emotions, our soul and our spirit? How do we communicate our wisdom with love from a place of deep knowingness of our truth? As we follow our hearts, financial abundance is created.

We are freeing ourselves from any conditioning, belief and untruth that may have been binding us. We are are becoming true co-creators aware of the power of our thoughts and our feelings to manifest a whole new reality.

As we seek the tranquility of nature or of quiet spaces throughout the day, we regenerate at a cellular level. It is important that we protect our bedrooms from unwanted electronical devices and undue noise or negative vibrations. The place where we sleep needs to become a sanctuary of peace as much is happening in our dreams, visions and meditation. We are being opened wide to the magic of the cosmos and connecting to the sacredness of our soul.”   – Michelle Karen (, Author of the new book, Astrology for Enlightenment.

“Hot Pink!” and other New Age Colors

December 17, 2009

In my most recent Autumn Living Well Newsletter, I mentioned that I was working on a fuchsia color. Well, I finally finished it and I have to say, it’s yummy and hot! So no other name is more fitting than “Hot Pink!”. We’re happy to send out a free sample, just email us and we’ll get one right out to you. We created it in our “green” Lifemaster flat finish, but it is also available in eggshell and semi-gloss.

Our inspiration was the Ben Moore color “Razzle Dazzle” that was featured in a previous House Beautiful Magazine article in their July ’09 issue.

Inspiration for our newest color

Now, “Hot Pink!” isn’t a color for just any space, although it’s stunning in the foyer and stairwell of the Brooklyn Townhouse featured in HB. It would make a fabulous powder room, dining room and/or teenage girl’s bedroom. Try complimenting it with “Mocha” or “Milk Chocolate” and you’re really talking yummy!

Well, if you haven’t heard, Pantone recently came out with their selection for 2010’s Color of the Year. They have selected a turquoise (see below):

Pantone's 2010 Color of the Year

Turquoise is a warmer shade of blue that is both soothing and refreshing, much like ICI/Akzo Nobel’s International Color of the Year for 2010 (see October 2nd post). According to Color Expert Kate Smith of Sensational Color, Global Color Research selected “Verdigris” as the 2010 color. Of course, color trends are all interesting and it is certainly fun creating new colors, but there’s something to be said about classic colors that have been popular for decades, which is why the majority of our palette consists of historic colors and easy to live with neutrals. Our “H2 Ahh!!” created especially for Kate was suggested by her as a “complex neutral” version of turquoise because it shifts back and forth from a subdued blue to green. It also works especially well with our own “Verdigris” color we initially created for Orange County designer Karen Mason’s master bedroom.

Over 20 years ago, when I first moved from NYC to St. Francisville, I took a metaphysical color class from local artist and channeller Anna Macedo ( which is where I first learned about the correlation between color and numerology. I still remember her prediction about the colors turquoise and magenta being what she called “new age” colors and becoming more popular. Well, Anna was certainly ahead of the game, don’t you think? I still have my notes from her class:

Magenta is born of two invisible rays which together become visible. This blend of ultra-violet and infrared is a mysterious newcomer into our realm of sight. It inspires achievement through love of family, friends or an ideal. It promotes inner satisfaction from that which is well done and is a bridge to Spirit and connection with Divine love, beyond passion into compassion.

Turquoise is an ethereal, healing color that is particularly useful in reducing stress without depleting energy and is the color of the new chakra located at the thymus gland or what is often called the higher heart. It promotes compassion and unconditional love, self-respect and respect for all life and all forms of communication, marking the dawn of the Age of Aquarius – the age of silicon vs. coal (computers, the internet and all forms of communication taking place over wires and waves or through wireless mediums).

On a more earthly note, most ICI Paints stores will be closed Christmas Eve through Monday, December 28th (we will be too), so if you’re planning any painting projects over the holidays (you’d be surprised how many people are!), be sure to call us early next week to place your order.

If I don’t post before then, I wish everyone a very happy holiday season!

The Powerful Heart

September 1, 2009

Many years ago, I learned an incredible technique that uses the energy of the heart to actually heal, both emotionally and physically. I first read about the technique in Meredith Young-Sowers’ first book, Agartha: A Journey to the Stars where she used it to heal her newborn baby of a high fever and then later, shortly after I had a biopsy for skin cancer, Meredith personally taught me this same technique during a phone consultation. The wound disappeared in less than 24 hours with no sign of it whatsoever!  This “spiritual aspirin” as Meredith calls it, has also served me well during stressful times.

It’s as simple as placing both palms over your heart center (one above the other-not crossed) and focusing on the energy in that area. Your ability to create a focus of attention is not just a cerebral or brain activity. It is an activity on many levels of consciousness. Wherever you place your attention within your body, or within the energy field of your body, there is an immediate flow of subtle energy to that point or area, which has an enlivening effect upon the cells of your body and the luminous light fibers that comprise your energy body, or aura.

So, that said, when you start feeling the energy that emanates from your heart, begin imagining it radiating outward through your arms into the palms of your hands. Then, once you’ve made that connection and generated that feeling, take one hand (doesn’t matter which one) and move it to the area that needs healing, while visualizing the energy radiating from your heart.  You can do this on yourself, as I did to heal the wound on my leg, or on others, as Meredith did to relieve her baby’s fever. As I said, I have also used it to relieve stress, by simply keeping both hands over the heart while having dental work or other stressful medical procedures.

Since then, I have read about various powerful techniques using the heart by several other shaman/authors including  Robert Shapiro, Drunvalo Melchizedek, and most recently Tom Kenyon’s last two channels, “Chaotic Nodes” and “Lies, Half-Truths and Manipulations” (which I highly recommend).  In Kenyon’s most recent, “Lies, Half-Truths and Manipulations”, he talks about the H1N1 Virus known as “swine flu” and reminds us that as individuals and as a collective, we can change our destinies even as they unfold before us and refers us back to an earlier April 18, 2005 channel, “Ecstasy and the Heart” where he shares another powerful technique involving focusing on your heart while generating feelings of appreciation and gratitude.  Note, he says “feelings” (not thought), which is key. As you focus on the physical heart and generate feelings of appreciation and gratitude, a waveform of energy begins to flow through the body, carried by magnetic fields of the heart which emanate outward from the physical heart to encompass your entire body. As the flow of energy begins throughout the body, then shift your attention to the field around your body. By doing this, you are creating powerful harmonic patterns that bring you into resonance with the universal flow of love energy.

I have been practicing this technique for years—especially when outdoors where I am always appreciating the beautiful vistas of nature. It’s absolutely amazing what happens with all of the animals nearby. Our cats & dogs gather around, birds start circling and singing, cicadas start chirping—it’s incredible!  I also do this during thunderstorms, sending the energy out further and further, encompassing our home and property and in no time, the storms calm.

If more people practiced doing this several times a day, can you imagine what we could create?  These are turbulent times and I’m happy to say, I’ve managed to escape most of the drama because not a day goes by that I don’t consciously feel gratitude and appreciation!
