Color Trend Talk

February 25, 2010

Can you believe my “2010 Color of the Year” post is still getting quite a few visitors each day, totalling over 20,000 visitors?!  Just yesterday, color guru Kiki Titterud, who writes the Trend Tuesday Column for SensationalColor.com, commented on that post letting me know that their Sensational Color for Your Home 2010/2011 Home Color & Design Trends presentation is now available! They offer on-demand access to a 28 minute video and 10 page downloadable palette pdf for only $14.95, that features 4 of the top trends, influences, and inspirations with over 25 current and future colors including colors Coming on Strong, Global Views, Simply White, and Neutral-ish. Plus an added bonus section with 6 of the most popular design trends. If you love following what’s hot, and love to read Trend Tuesday, you won’t want to miss this extended visual presentation.

On another color note, color consultants Lori Sawaya of ColorStrategies.net and Barbara Jacobs of IntegralColor.com and I are working on a podcast called “Color Buds – Where Color Knowledge Blooms ” where you’ll be able to listen to us discuss all things related to color and paint! Many of you know Lori as “Funcolors” on the home decorating forums, who is one of the most knowledgeable people I know, especially when it comes to what I call the “science of color”.  Actually, I told her she should call herself a “color scientist”.  Of course, she’s also very creative as she’s the one who came up with both the idea and name for the podcasts! Barbara Jacobs is the multi-talented designer/color consultant/artist/rug designer I have written about in my Living Well Newsletter. In my Winter 2010 Living Well, I shared some “before & after” photos from her of a recent project in Boston.  I’ll let you know as soon as our first one is posted!

I am also very excited to be working on a new line of private label upholstery with TLS by Design, who is the manufacturer for the upholstery seen on the 2009 season finale of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. They also did the banquettes for the Hilton hotel featured in the George Clooney movie, “Up in the Air”.  Not only will this line be well-priced, but the lead time is only 3-4 weeks!

On a personal note, I recently enjoyed one of German violinist David Garrett’s first American concerts. I first saw his Berlin concert on PBS and was so taken with him, I immediately called in for a third-row ticket, complete with back stage pass to his Baton Rouge concert! At the concert, he told us he had just taped a show earlier in the day that aired on Oprah last Monday (2/22) where he played his Guinness world-record breaking “Flight of the Bumble Bee” in Oprah’s Godiva Chocolate set. Double yum!! He’ll be in quite a few other cities around the country.
