Good News from New Orleans!

October 26, 2005

I spoke with Isabel Winsberg this morning who had just returned from her first trip to New Orleans since Katrina. She said it was actually quite nice because it wasn’t crowded and there was hardly any traffic. As long as you stayed either in the French Quarter, on St. Charles Avenue, Magazine Street and Metairie Road areas, you could barely tell anything had happened. She said Audubon Park never looked more beautiful because National Guard troops had cleaned it up. They had dinner at Irene’s Cuisine in the Quarter and saw many old friends. She said there were quite a few restaurants open and many shops on Magazine were open. Her manicurist and massage therapist were both doing a booming business! Isabel is allergic to mold so when she tells me she had no problems with the mold (which gives me headaches and I’m not even allergic), then that gives me hope of returning for a visit sometime soon. I hope to be one of many to come help keep their economy going! Perhaps Thanksgiving Dinner at one of those fine restaurants? What a way to ensure you spend the day being thankful! 🙂
